GENERAL MANAGER: PUBLIC RELATIONS

This is a job in a million. The successful candidate will get to take this epic business to its next level of greatness. Turning 21 in less than six months, GinjaNinja, one of the top five ICT PR specialist agencies, is looking for its next leading Ninja. Working together with the founder and CEO, this position will look to manage the local operation while growing it to achieve goals relevant to this incredible communications agency and its journey. It will take a ninja-inspired candidate to win this race and lead a team of 10 plus people to PR greatness.

JOB DESCRIPTION

WHO ARE WE: A leading public relations agency specialising in technology

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR: An ambitious and accomplished Public Relations consultant suited to a general management position

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

You will work with the founder and CEO, and will be responsible for giving strategic direction to the local team, ensuring the agency is running optimally, the team is productive, motivated and everyone is bought into the vision of the growing business. New business and new product development will form a significant part of this role as well as people management.

Leadership

Maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating top-quality creative professionals at all levels

Work with key employees to promote a culture of Ninja business conduct throughout and continue to meet the high standards and procedures that are in place

Continually challenge the team to grow, think laterally and continue to achieve high levels of client satisfaction

Seek to ensure that all employees understand their responsibilities and your role and assistance is clearly understood

Strategic Planning

Work together with the CEO to develop an annual growth strategy for the agency, creating a strategic plan and outlining the direction and policies which seek to ensure profitable growth and success

Establish priorities in terms of agency objectives and your role in achieving these

Work with the CEO and HR to establish the strategic framework for the allocation of financial and human capital

Financial Planning

Work together with the CEO and founder to develop sound business plans and budgets to meet goals and objectives

Tactical

Manage the activities of the business in a manner which seeks to ensure that the business and operational plans and PR activities are met

Oversee the emergence, introduction and implementation of innovative PR campaigns

Oversee the development and implementation of new creative ideas, PR strategies and operational policies to guide the business within the limits prescribed by the CEO

Retain the strategic direction set by the CEO, meeting performance targets for the operating business and ensuring adherence to established policies and standards

Monitor and maintain appropriate PR management systems to provide effective internal control of operations and client delivery

Identify, to the extent possible, all significant risks to the business and consider and establish, where appropriate, procedures to mitigate the impact of the risks

Oversee the compensation, performance assessment, leadership, talent development and succession planning of team

Communication and relationships

WHAT DO YOU NEED:

5 8 years plus senior PR agency experience

Degree bonus but not essential

5 - 8 years extensive leadership and business experience with a proven track record of innovation, entrepreneurship, delivery and performance across multidisciplinary areas and projects in the innovative media and PR market space

Prior experience as a senior PR executive role

Dynamic mentorship abilities with a bias for constantly seeking ways to further enable others to excel while supporting innovative and alternative PR methodologies

East Rand of Johannesburg-based

SKILLS:

Excellent background in functional PR

Excellent experience as a PR leader

Good written and verbal communications skills

Strategic mindset

Courageous, strong and bold skill set to meet standard and goals of the agency
