Introduction

A vacancy has arisen for a General Manager Pharmacy, South Africa, based in Dunkeld. The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic direction for the pharmacy function and for ensuring the provision of customer focused, professional pharmaceutical services in Life Healthcare and will succeed Janette Joubert as Head of Pharmacy when she retires.

Critical Outputs

Drive the implementation of the Pharmacy Strategy throughout the SA business

• Manage an agile workforce through the creation of a dynamic pharmacy operating model.
• Develop/ enhance smarter ways of working for pharmacists through automation and/or digitisation.
• Utilise data driven insights through data visualisation resulting in astute decision making for the function.
• Participate in and contribute to group initiatives by providing pharmacy insights as a Subject Matter Expert.

Pharmacy Practice management

• Ensure the achievement of pharmacy commercial and operational KPI's for LHC.
• Drive professional practice with a focus on the patient journey and the professional image of pharmacy.
• Sponsor continuous improvement in clinical pharmacy services to deliver excellence in clinical care and enhanced patient outcomes.
• Support the culture of knowledge sharing to keep abreast of trends and best practice.
• Develop and build cooperative working relationships with enabling functions and stakeholders to develop synergies and influence positive outcomes for the business.
• Develop and support the implementation of the pharmacy succession talent map with the human resources framework to motivate, develop & engage pharmacists.
• Oversee decision making regarding pharmacy recruitment, retention, and recognition with the Human Resources function.
• Ensure the provision of information together with the effective management of pharmacy processes and systems to enhance business operations.

Represent the Pharmacy function internally and externally

• Ensure industry visibility for LHC through an ongoing participation in industry forums and structures.
• Spearhead corporate initiatives and strategic projects.
• Represent LHC in external relationships with universities, professional associations, and community organisations.

Requirements

• Degree in pharmacy. Post Graduate Qualification will be advantageous.
• Greater than five years of pharmacy senior management experience within the private healthcare sector.
• Strong knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and role-players.
• Computer proficiency.
