Job Purpose
To lead and optimise the operations of the Centurion Distribution Centre by ensuring efficient, safe and customer-focused distribution that supports national retail performance, drives business growth and enables supply chain excellence.

To lead the Centurion DC's financial performance by managing profit and loss, budgeting, and cost control, ensuring sustainable growth for the business and value for shareholders over the long term.
To deliver exceptional customer service by ensuring on-time, in-full and quality deliveries to enhance customer satisfaction.
To optimise the logistics network by balancing availability, cost and inventory, enabling a responsive and integrated supply chain approach.
To drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement through innovation and process enhancement, improving execution and reducing risk across the distribution centre.
To identify and implement business opportunities that create competitive advantage and profit growth, to support the business's strategic objectives.
To build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders through cross-functional collaboration in line with logistics and business objectives.
To drive compliance with health, safety and regulatory standards to maintain a safe work environment.
To develop high-performing, diverse teams by building competence and capacity, fostering a culture of growth and inclusion across all levels of the DC.
To achieve shrinkage and wastage targets through effective controls and accountability to support financial performance.
To maintain and uphold SHEQ standards, ensuring the DC meets all regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
Minimum requirements
Knowledge (ESSENTIAL)
Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) functionality, integration and optimization
Retail distribution logistics, singles picking, replenishment cycles and seasonal demand
Inventory management (stock accuracy, shrinkage control, and forecasting)
Transport and fleet management, including contract negotiation as well as route optimisation
Financial management, including budgeting, cost control and P&L accountability
Data analytics and reporting, leveraging KPIs, dashboards and business intelligence tools to drive decision-making
Digital transformation, with experience in automation and technology-driven process improvements
Project management and leading cross-functional initiatives
SHEQ compliance, ensuring adherence to safety, health, environmental and quality standards
Knowledge of COIDA and labour legislation to drive workplace safety and regulatory compliance
Risk mitigation strategies, including asset protection, contingency planning and business continuity planning
Knowledge and ability to lead in a unionized environment and resolve labour disputes effectively
Building high-performing, diverse and engaged teams
Experience (ESSENTIAL)
5-8 years' experience in a senior leadership role within logistics or operations, preferably in a retail distribution environment
Proven experience managing a large-scale site (44,000 m) with high-volume throughput
3-5 years hands-on operational logistics experience
Demonstrated success in leading teams in a unionized environment
Strong background in warehouse management within retail distribution
Track record in WMS implementation or rollout, including change management and system integration
Experience in complex fine picking operations with a focus on accuracy and speed
Experience in digital transformation and operational optimisation, including automation, data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
3 year Bachelor's Degree (NQF Level 7 or higher) in one of the following fields, Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Operations Management/Industrial Engineering)
