An exciting opportunity exists for a General Buyer at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED, NBL Westmead Biscuits. The successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting operational requirements by ensuring that general goods/services are sourced at the right quantity and quality is purchased from the right source at the right time, right price, and delivered at the right delivery point. Spend company funds effectively by negotiating and obtaining competitive prices.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas: * General Sourcing/ Purchasing

• Ensure general goods/services are purchased from the right source at the right time, right price and delivered at the right delivery point
• Spend company funds effectively by negotiating and obtaining competitive prices
• ESS/Queries file submitted weekly for sign-off
• Manage Vendor addition
• Quarterly review of the general supplier list
• Provide backup to Engineering buyers when required
• No POs older than 3 months without an explanation record
• Manage all monthly accounts, keep tracker up to date
• Conduct each procurement transaction according to the Group Procurement Policy
• Ensure all activities comply with the AVI Procurement Policy
• Identifying re-order levels and sourcing against these for continuous supply.
• Quick turnaround of account queries.
• Manage consumables inventory
• Cost Analysis

• Cost: Spend Analytics check and identify opportunities on cost reduction
• Ensure sourcing is done from the PPE Tender Awarded supplier
• All Contract invoices to be submitted to Head Office by the end of each month
• Track consumable & stationery spend against Logistics & Stores Budget
• Manage Stationery stock counts and issues
• Following procurement procedure to ensure the most effective cost of consumables and the right quality.
• Safety

• Ensure the correct PPE items are purchased in line with company quality and Safety requirements
• Manage procurement activities linked to Waste contract
• Support central procurement with Consumables and PPE tender process

• Vendor Database maintenance

• Reduce the number of new vendors loaded to the database. Offer alternatives or remove & replace methods.
• Top ten supplier evaluation & expenditure reporting. Establish & maintain monthly interfaces with these vendors

• Minimum of 2 years general buying experience in a factory
• Minimum of 5 years or more logistical experience in an FMCG factory environment

• Grade 12
• A relevant completed tertiary qualification in Purchasing, Procurement, Logistics or Stores Management Minimum NQF4 level qualification
