General Assistant

Innovation for the Blind, formerly known as the Institute for the Blind, is a programme of Badisa based in Worcester. We currently have a vacancy for a

General Assistant

at our care facility, Huis Ebenhaezer, which provides services to residents with multiple disabilities. Additionally we also have a vacancy for a

General Assistant

at our care facility for the elderly, Huis Brevis.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Worcester.

Working hours:

Shift-based roster (07:00 to 19:00 or 19:00 to 07:00)

Lunch breaks:

60 minutes

Minimum Requirements

Qualification in home-based care is recommended Grade 10 or equivalent education/training Ability to work independently Strong interpersonal skills Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships Fluent verbal communication skills (Afrikaans and English) and teamwork skills

Key Responsibilities

Optimal care of residents with multiple disabilities and/or the elderly. General cleaning, maintenance of good hygienic standards, order and safety in the department General assistance and support to colleagues as required Electronic reporting (knowledge of M-Files or similar systems will be an advantage) Self-management and development
A Police Clearance Certificate (name clearance,

not older than 6 months

) must accompany the application.
