(a 4-star lodge situated in the greater Addo region, 2 hour's drive from Port Elizabeth) is looking for a
reserve & maintenance manager.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Must have at least 5 years reserve & maintenance experience in a game lodge environment
National Diploma or Degree in Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, or related discipline.
Must have strong knowledge of all maintenance issues e.g. electrical, water, mechanical, plumbing etc.
General vehicle maintenance experience / knowledge is a must.
Valid driver's license with offroad experience.
Firearm competency (advantageous).
Experience with permits is advantageous
The Wildlife Manager is responsible for the comprehensive care, management, and conservation of wildlife across the Game Reserve. This role ensures the health and welfare of all animals, promotes ecological integrity, and supports conservation ethics. The Wildlife Manager collaborates with conservation bodies, veterinarians, internal departments, and guests to maintain the Game Reserves' high standards as a leading conservation and eco-tourism destination.
Wildlife Monitoring & Conservation - Conduct routine game counts and ecological impact assessments. - Monitor animal populations, movements, and general ecosystem health. - Implement conservation strategies aligned with the reserve's carrying capacity. - Control and manage veld conditions and invasive plant species.
Habitat & Resource Management - Manage infrastructure such as fencing, water supply systems, and firebreaks. - Oversee biodiversity and ecological sustainability efforts. - Coordinate infrastructure maintenance and upgrades with relevant teams.
Team Leadership & Staff Supervision - Lead and train staff and animal caretakers. - Promote professional conduct, safety, and proper equipment usage.
Administration & Reporting - Maintain up-to-date wildlife records. Assist with compliance audits, permit applications, and budget planning.

High ethical standards and commitment to wildlife welfare.
Physically demanding; requires excellent bush skills and hands-on involvement.
MUST BE ABLE TO START ASAP.
Salary: R17000.00 per month (excludes gratuities, Sunday hours worked, public holidays worked) Package includes single accommodation on the reserve.
Employees work 21 days on and then get 7 days off.
