Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Furnace Operator's primary purpose is to provide support to the aluminum furnace area as dictated by operational requirements.
Responsibilities (NOT limited to the below):
- Compliance with approved SOP's
- General operation of the Furnace
- Oversee the feeding as well as housekeeping of the furnace
- Constant monitoring of furnace parameters
- Maintaining set quality standards
- Assistance and support to service teams during times of maintenance and process interrupts
- Compliance with OSHA and company policies
- Maintaining housekeeping during operation
- Reports and reporting as instructed by the Line Manager or Senior Operator
- Participating in scheduled meeting and training programs
- Maintaining stock levels of process consumables
- Shift hand-over protocols at work station
- Meeting planned targets
- Grade 12
- Previous experience in a production / process environment will be advantageous to successful candidates
- Basic mechanical/technical knowledge
- Bilingual and literate in communication as well as numeracy (calculation requirements)
- Proactive and quick thinking
- Committed, hardworking and self-motivated
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Display a professional work approach
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Excellent standards in execution
- Flexible and willing to work overtime and shifts if and when required
