Frontend & WordPress Developer IT - Software Development
Cape Town - Western Cape - South Africa
ENVIRONMENT:
Our Client is looking to hire a versatile Frontend & WordPress Developer to contribute to their web development projects. You will be responsible for the design, user experience, and technical build of their digital solutions. Your skills will include WordPress design and troubleshooting, as well as experience with Drupal, Laravel (for API integration or templating), and Vue.js to deliver effective digital results. DUTIES:

• WordPress Design & Branding: Design and develop visually appealing WordPress websites, ensuring strong aesthetics and brand consistency.
• Theme & Page Builder Expertise: Utilise and customise WordPress themes and page builders (Divi, Elementor) to create user-friendly designs.
• Troubleshooting & Optimisation: Identify and resolve WordPress issues, including plugin conflicts and performance bottlenecks.
• Vue.js Interactive Frontend Development: Contribute to the development of interactive frontend components using Vue.js.
• Responsive Design & Performance Optimization: Build responsive websites and applications with a focus on usability, visual appeal, and performance across all devices.
• Custom Functionality & Backend Integration: Implement custom functionalities and design enhancements on WordPress and Drupal sites, integrating with backend systems (potentially Laravel).
• Maintainable Styling: Use CSS preprocessors like Sass for maintainable stylesheets.
• Content Management & Visual Implementation: Update and manage website content in WordPress and Drupal, ensuring correct implementation of visual elements.
• Frontend Technical & Design Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical and design challenges across the frontend.
• Performance Responsiveness: Optimise website and application speed, performance, responsiveness, and visual coherence.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with backend developers on Laravel blade files and with designers and project managers to deliver web solutions.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Portfolio: Demonstrable experience in WordPress web design with a portfolio of user-friendly sites.
• Theme & Page Builder Customisation Skills: Proven ability to customise WordPress themes and use page builders (Divi, Elementor).
• Proactive Troubleshooting: Proactive approach to troubleshooting WordPress issues.
• Drupal: Familiarity with Drupal is a bonus.
• Laravel & Blade: Understanding of backend frameworks, particularly Laravel for Blade templating.
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery: Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (including jQuery).
• Vue.js: Experience with modern frontend frameworks, especially Vue.js.
• CSS / Sass: Expertise in using CSS preprocessors like Sass.
• Website Optimisation: Solid understanding of website and application optimisation principles.
• UI Design Understanding: Keen eye for aesthetics, typography, and UI design principles.

How to stand out from the crowd:

• Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Figma).
• Understanding of user experience (UX) principles.
• Experience with RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Git.
• Formal qualification in Web Development, Graphic Design, or a related field (passion and experience are more important than qualifications).
