Our client, a prestigious 5-star luxury Big 5 safari lodge located within a world-renowned Big 5 reserve in the Eastern Cape, is seeking an exceptionally guest-centric Front of House / F&B Host to join their hospitality team. This role is perfect for an engaging, polished service professional who thrives in a luxury lodge environment and is passionate about creating memorable guest experiences.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to grow rapidly into a Duty Manager role, making this an excellent career development pathway.
Salary: R12 000 - R15 000, depending on experience.
Description
The Front of House / F&B Host will be responsible for ensuring a seamless and world-class guest experience across all front-of-house and food & beverage touchpoints. This includes daily hosting, managing guest flow, coordinating with internal departments, and delivering exceptional service throughout the lodge.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Hosting

  • Warmly welcome guests throughout their stay and build positive guest relationships
  • Host guests at mealtimes and during key lodge touchpoints
  • Anticipate guest needs and personalise service accordingly
  • Assist with dietary requirements, special requests, and guest communication
  • Create memorable, elegant and attentive service moments
Front of House Coordination
  • Oversee guest movement and daily lodge hosting schedules
  • Ensure dining venues (deck, boma, restaurant) are beautifully set and guest-ready
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, guiding, kitchen and management teams
  • Support operational briefings and guest logistics
F&B Service Support
  • Assist with setup, service and clearing during breakfast, lunch, dinner and events
  • Ensure all service standards are aligned with 5-star lodge expectations
  • Communicate meal and preference notes accurately to chefs and F&B teams
  • Support bar/beverage service when required
Administration & Duty Management Support
  • Assist with guest check-ins, check-outs and billing processes
  • Manage basic lodge administration and daily reports
  • Step into Duty Manager responsibilities as training progresses
  • Support management in maintaining SOPs and lodge service excellence
Salary & Employment Details
  • R12 000 - R15 000 per month (experience dependent)

Minimum Requirements
  • Previous lodge or boutique hotel experience preferred
  • Strong guest-service orientation with a polished, professional presence
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and work well under pressure
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Advantageous: Experience with lodge systems / POS
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Willing to work lodge cycles, weekends and public holidays
