We are seeking a mature, responsible House Mother, aged 35 years and above, who is fluent in French and proficient in English.



The ideal candidate must:

Have strong interpersonal and communication skills

Be able to work well with students, parents, staff, and management

Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail

Be organised, reliable, and trustworthy

Show empathy, patience, and professionalism at all times

Be capable of working independently and as part of a team

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed residential environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION: FRENCH-SPEAKING HOUSE MOTHER

1. Working Hours

Monday to Friday: 07:30 - 16:00

One Saturday per month: 08:00 - 14:00

2. Remuneration

Monthly Salary: R8,000

3. Employment Period

Trial Period: January to March (3 months)

Fixed-Term Contract: April to 20 November

4. Administrative Requirements

Mandatory daily sign-in and sign-out at Reception

Primary language of communication: English

Proficiency in French is required

Uniform: Provided and must be worn at all times

5. Professional Conduct

Perform all duties with courtesy, kindness, and patience

Maintain a professional, respectful, and positive attitude

No mediocrity will be accepted

Gossip, rumours, and unprofessional behaviour are strictly prohibited

Employees are expected to take pride in and enjoy their work

6. Roles and Responsibilities

6.1 Reception and Client Relations

Welcome all visitors and residents warmly and professionally

Escort prospective tenants to view rooms, library, laundry, kitchen, garden, and washing facilities

Ensure rooms are filled sequentially and efficiently

Work towards full occupancy at all times

6.2 Administration and Leasing

Clearly explain lease agreements and registration payments

Issue, manage, and track invoices

Collect, organise, and file all required administrative documentation

Email copies of invoices to students

Ensure strict adherence to lease agreements

Do not create false expectations or deviate from contractual terms

6.3 Financial Compliance

Ensure all payments are received before move-in and before the first day of each month

Operate in line with the organisation's "No Pay - No Stay" policy

Maintain firm and fair enforcement of payment requirements

6.4 Facilities and Maintenance

Report all maintenance issues immediately

Monitor cleanliness standards and report any shortcomings by cleaning staff

Clean main and floor kitchens when administrative duties are minimal

6.5 Student Support and Community Development

Complete check-in forms thoroughly upon student arrival

Issue one mattress protector per student and ensure correct use

Assist students with general enquiries

Educate residents on communal living, hygiene, safety, and security

Promote a supportive "home away from home" environment, including basic counselling and wellbeing support

6.6 Governance and Inspections

Maintain professional boundaries between Landlord and Management

Uphold respect for all stakeholders

Participate in management inspections twice per month, as scheduled

Report serious matters affecting resident welfare or operational stability

6.7 Ethical Standards

Do not encourage or participate in gossip, rumours, or workplace conflict

Uphold honesty, integrity, and accountability at all times
