About the role
The Fractional CTO is responsible for becoming a trusted advisor to customers within the network carrier industry, guiding them through technical solutions that align with their business goals. The Fractional CTO partners closely with the sales and architecture teams, using deep technical expertise to tailor solutions that enhance connectivity, security, and scalability for carrier-grade networks. This role requires an in-depth understanding of network technologies, an ability to simplify complex concepts, and a focus on building long-term customer relationships through strategic, solution-focused guidance.
Key duties and responsibilities
:
Customer Relationship Building
Act as the primary technical point of contact, developing and maintaining trust-based relationships with key customer stakeholders.
Understand customer business needs, industry challenges, and technical requirements to position carrier's products effectively.
Provide consultative support that demonstrates a clear understanding of the customer's goals and translates into actionable strategies.
Self-starter nature / ownership of the role within the current environment and understanding the current network and operating within that framework.
Technical Expertise and Solutions Design
Offer in-depth technical knowledge across various network solutions, including VXLAN, WAN, MPLS, and 5G technologies, as well as security protocols and cloud connectivity.
Collaborate with sales and architecture teams to design and propose tailored solutions that address customer challenges, align with industry best practices, and leverage the company's technical capabilities.
Conduct technical product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations, addressing customer questions and concerns effectively.
Project Support and Solutions Implementation
Guide the customer through deployment phases, offering technical insights that ensure a smooth transition from design to implementation.
Provide post-deployment support to ensure customer satisfaction, manage technical expectations, and prepare for future growth opportunities.
Thought Leadership and Market Intelligence
Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitor offerings to provide relevant, future-proof advice to customers.
Actively participate in training and development to maintain expertise in evolving network solutions and carrier technologies.
Contribute to company knowledge-sharing sessions and act as a resource for technical education within the sales team.
Strategic Sales Support and Revenue Growth
Collaborate with sales leadership to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities based on customer needs and emerging trends.
Develop and deliver ROI-focused presentations that demonstrate the value of network solutions in meeting customers' strategic objectives.
Support account teams in building long-term, revenue-generating relationships by aligning solutions with customers' strategic roadmaps.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; relevant certifications (HCNA, CCNA, JNCIA, etc.) preferred.
5+ years of experience in a technical sales or network engineering role, ideally within the network carrier or telecommunications industry.
Strong understanding of network design principles, routing protocols, and security standards.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven track record of building trust with customers and delivering solutions that drive business value.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
