FortiGate firewalls

network infrastructure
, and a strong understanding of networking fundamentals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the configuration, support, and continuous improvement of network environments, while also mentoring junior team members and ensuring high standards of documentation and knowledge sharing.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the technical lead for all networking and firewall-related tasks, with a primary focus on
FortiGate
devices.
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot
FortiGate firewalls
, as well as other network devices such as
DrayTek
and
TP-Link routers
.
Respond to and resolve configuration and support requests related to firewalls and network infrastructure via ticketing systems.
Design and maintain
network diagrams
using tools such as
Microsoft Visio
to clearly represent current and future-state architectures.
Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and best practices.
Collaborate closely with other support team members, offering training and cross-training to build shared technical knowledge.
Use
troubleshooting tools
(e.g.,
Wireshark
) to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Stay current with emerging networking technologies and security best practices.
Lead technical projects and mentor team members with a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
Requirements:
Proven hands-on experience with
FortiGate firewalls
and networking devices from vendors like
DrayTek
and
TP-Link
.
Minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on FortiGate firewall experience is required.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, VLANs, VPNs, NAT, and firewall policies.
Relevant
certifications
(preferred):
CompTIA Network+
,
Cisco CCNA/CCNP
,
Fortinet NSE
, or
Microsoft equivalents
.
Proficient in creating and maintaining
network diagrams
and technical documentation.
Excellent
written and verbal communication
skills in English.
Previous experience working in a
support team environment
, using
ticketing systems
(e.g., Zendesk, HaloPSA, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to lead projects, document solutions, and
mentor colleagues
.
Experience using
Wireshark
or similar packet analysis tools is a strong plus.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
Experience with SD-WAN technologies and multi-site network management.
Familiarity with cloud networking (e.g., Azure, AWS, Digital Ocean).
Scripting or automation knowledge (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for network tasks.
