The role of the forensic auditor is to detect and prevent fraudulent activities within the business, this by detecting , investigating and preventing financial crimes within the organisation.
SPECIFIC ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investigate Financial Irregularities:
Conduct thorough investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, or financial misconduct. Examine documents to identify fraudulent activities within the business. Investigate complex financial transactions and create reports of findings
Analyse Data
: Gather, analyse, and interpret financial data to uncover anomalies or irregularities
Prepare Reports
: Create accurate and comprehensive forensic audit reports for senior management and relevant stakeholders. To be discussed at the relevant business board and the segment FRRC Assist management by suggesting solutions to risky areas
Identify Vulnerabilities:
Assess financial systems and processes to identify vulnerabilities that could lead to fraud or non-compliance
Collaborate with Teams:
Work with the specialised services teams, internal audit and risk management teams to recommend enhancements to controls and processes
Maintain Evidence:
Collect and secure evidence in compliance with legal and regulatory standards, ensuring the chain of custody is maintained for legal proceedings
Utilise Forensic Tools:
Employ advanced forensic tools and data analytics software to detect trends and red flags in large datasets
Training and Awareness:
Deliver training sessions to employees and management to raise awareness of fraud risks and preventative measures. Implement forensic audit programmes and control systems
Stay updated
with the latest auditing techniques and methods, and relevant legal changes
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
A bachelor's degree in forensic accounting, accounting, finance, or a related field is typically required
Proven work experience between 2-5 years as a Forensic Auditor or similar role
Solid understanding of accounting and financial principles
Proficiency in forensic auditing software and databases
Exceptional analytical and investigative skills
Excellent report writing and presentation skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with teams
Strong analytical and investigative skills to assess complex financial data and identify discrepancies
* Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in audits and reports. In addition, an eye for detail is essential for spotting any irregularities
