Job Description
The Food Service Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and dining areas by assisting with meal preparation, service, cleaning, and customer support. This role ensures that food is served safely, efficiently, and in accordance with hygiene and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
Assist with basic food preparation such as chopping, portioning, and assembling meals. Serve food to customers, residents, or staff in a friendly and efficient manner. Set up and restock service stations, salad bars, and serving lines. Maintain correct portion control and presentation standards.
Cleaning & Sanitation
Wash and sanitize dishes, trays, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed. Clean food preparation areas, service counters, dining spaces, and storage areas. Follow all food safety, hygiene, and HACCP guidelines. Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with organizational procedures.
General Support
Receive, store, and rotate food deliveries following FIFO principles. Assist cooks and chefs during busy periods. Report equipment issues or safety hazards promptly. Maintain a respectful, team-focused working environment.
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in food service, catering, or hospitality (preferred but not essential). Basic knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift. Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team.
May include early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: R4000,00 - R5000,00 per month
