Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Safety Assistant to support our Food Safety Team Leader in maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. The role involves assisting with audits, training, data analysis, and ensuring compliance with our Food Safety Management System (FSMS) and relevant industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with audits and inspections: Support internal and external food safety audits to ensure full compliance with food safety standards. Support training initiatives: Help develop and deliver training programs on hygiene, HACCP, and good manufacturing practices (GMP). Monitor and report on data: Track food safety performance data, identify trends, and assist in preparing reports for management review. Ensure compliance: Maintain and support the FSMS to ensure adherence to standards such as: SANS 10330:2020 (HACCP), SANS 10049:2019 (PRP's), ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), SANS 241:2015 (Drinking Water Quality) etc. Collaborate on issue resolution: Assist the team in investigating food safety incidents and implementing corrective actions. Maintain documentation: Help manage, update, and file all food safety documentation, including procedures, policies, and records. Stay informed: Keep up to date with new regulations, best practices, and emerging food safety trends.

Requirements:

Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric). Technical Skills: Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and food safety regulations is essential. Familiarity with food safety or quality management software will be an advantage.

Soft Skills:

Strong communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Experience:

Previous experience in a food manufacturing, food production, quality assurance, or food safety environment is preferred.

Work Environment:

The role involves work in both production areas and administrative offices.
