Fleet Manage/Logistics - SandtonJob Title: Fleet ManagerJob Overview:The fleet manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the company''s fleet of vehicles to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulations. This role involves overseeing vehicle maintenance, managing drivers, implementing safety protocols, and optimizing fleet operations.Key Responsibilities:Fleet Management:Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of company vehicles.Develop and implement strategies for optimizing fleet efficiency and cost-effectiveness.Monitor fleet performance and identify areas for improvement.Vehicle Maintenance and Repairs:Coordinate routine maintenance schedules and repairs.Ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards.Manage relationships with maintenance vendors and service providers.Driver Management:Recruit, train, and manage drivers.Monitor driver performance, safety, and compliance.Implement driver schedules and routes to optimize efficiency.Budgeting and Cost Control:Develop and manage the fleet budget.Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies.Monitor expenses related to fuel, maintenance, and repairs.Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Stay updated on industry standards and changes in regulations.Maintain necessary permits, licenses, and documentation.Skills and Qualifications:Certificate in Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).Proven experience (X years) in fleet management or related field.Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, logistics, and transportation regulations.Excellent organizational and managerial skills.Proficiency in fleet management software and tools.Analytical and problem-solving abilities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Additional Desired Qualifications:Certification in Fleet Management (e.g., Certified Automotive Fleet Manager - CAFM).Experience with alternative fuel vehicles or sustainability initiatives.Familiarity with telematics and GPS tracking systems.This specification is a general guideline and can vary based on the specific requirements and nature of the company''s fleet operations.
