Applicants are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of a Maintenance Fitter to be based at the Marble Hall Facility in Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Superintendent.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Fitter is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all harvesting and planting equipment, in the workshop and on the field.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Complete maintenance schedules and inspections.
• Overhaul harvesting and planting equipment by stripping, examining, replacing parts and repairing faulty parts and reassembling.
• Maintain and service all workshop equipment to ensure maximum availability.
• Commission new installations and alterations ensuring that it is operational and may be used safely.
• Diagnose cause of breakdown and repair faults on site where possible.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Red Seal Certificate (Fitter or Tractor mechanic).
• A minimum of 3 - 5 years' post trade practical experience within a similar environment.
• Valid driver's license
• Hydraulic experience is an advantage.

PERSON SPECIFIC

• Knowledge of Agricultural or Earth Moving Equipment.
• Sound knowledge on mechanical machinery operation and maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose faults, strip and re-assemble machines without supervision.
• Ability to work shifts and away from home.
• Must be willing to work overtime and on fields where crops are being harvested
