First Line Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive 1st Line Technician to join our IT support team. The successful candidate will be responsible for resolving more complex technical issues, supporting end users across various systems, and contributing to the overall stability and efficiency of the IT infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone with solid technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:



Respond to and resolve 1st line technical support queries Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, providing effective and timely solutions Provide remote and on-site support to end users across various departments Perform system maintenance, upgrades, and patching activities Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls via Active Directory or similar platforms Support the configuration, deployment, and imaging of desktops, laptops, and mobile devices Maintain accurate documentation of tickets, solutions, and configurations Escalate critical issues to 2nd line support or relevant vendors when necessary Contribute to IT projects and assist with system implementations Uphold IT policies, procedures, and best practices across the organisation

Skills and Experience:



The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge of the following:

Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint) Active Directory, Group Policy, and user administration Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs) Remote desktop and support tools (e.g. TeamViewer, AnyDesk, RDP) Desktop and laptop hardware troubleshooting and repair Antivirus, backup solutions, and endpoint security tools ITIL-based service desk environments (desirable) Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS) is an advantage

Qualifications and Requirements:



Minimum of a years' experience in a similar 1st line support role Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft MCP/MCSA) are desirable Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail Eligibility to work in the UK
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: R19000,00 - R20400,00 per month

Work Location: In person
