Banking & Verification Technical Support & Implementation Consultant
Role:-
This role provides first-line technical support and implementation oversight across banking and verification platforms, with a primary focus on Collections and AVS-related systems. The consultant will act as a diagnostic bridge between clients, internal teams, and development, ensuring technical issues are resolved efficiently and recurring pain points are flagged for enhancement. The role combines reactive support with proactive implementation, configuration, and client enablement.
Requirements:-

  • Related Degree or equivalent qualification in Business / Management or a related field
  • 5+ years' experience in MS Office (Advanced excel ability)
  • 5+ years working within the Collections industry.
  • Transactional processing
  • Experience with DebiCheck, RM and Mandates
  • Take on processes, submissions of take on documentation to banks
  • Up to date with all the new developments within the industry (Payshap, and RM)
  • Knowledge of Payment Services policies, regulations, and practices at Industry level.
  • PASA Foundation certification or higher
  • SQL Knowledge & Understanding (Running SQL relates queries to solve complex technical queries)
  • API knowledge (Provide guidance to clients implementing and solving all API related queries)
  • SFTP Knowledge in so far as batch file processing is related
  • Office based position (Sandton)
Role Responsibilities
  • Advanced analytical and technical problem solving
  • Complex Problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • Solution design and implementation monitoring
  • Assisting clients with technical queries
  • Liaising with IT and Developments teams to find solution to technical errors and or client queries
  • User Acceptance Testing - thorough testing of all system functionality
  • Detailed management reports in terms of tickets and resolution times
  • While not directly responsible for SLA reporting, the consultant will contribute to incident tracking and resolution documentation
  • Document findings and provide regular incident reports to stakeholders.
  • System configuration (backend systems) for new take-ons
  • Drafting to business requirements for the purpose of logging tickets and enhancements
  • Managing and updating knowledge base (internal)
  • Diagnose SQL/API/SFTP-related issues (no coding required) and guide clients through resolution steps.
  • Assist in onboarding new clients and supporting existing ones across banking and verification platforms.
  • Support both real-time and delayed client interactions (calls, emails, tickets).
  • Configure backend systems and UI-based settings for new client take-ons and platform changes.
  • Perform initial technical investigation of client issues and escalate to senior technical leads or development teams as needed.
  • Identify recurring support issues and propose enhancements to reduce future overhead.
Technical Competencies
Candidates should demonstrate strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across a range of fintech systems and environments. Key capabilities include:
  • Issue Diagnosis & Troubleshooting
  • Ability to investigate and isolate root causes across banking and verification platforms
  • Confident in interpreting error logs, system behaviour, and client-reported symptoms
  • Skilled in translating technical findings into actionable support tickets or enhancement requests
  • SQL Querying
  • Able to run and interpret SQL queries to support issue diagnosis and data validation
  • No development required, but familiarity with relational data structures is essential
  • Cloud & On-Premise Systems
  • Understanding of hybrid infrastructure models, including cloud-hosted services and on-premise deployments
  • Able to navigate system differences when troubleshooting connectivity, configuration, or data flow issues
  • Familiarity with concepts like firewalls, VPNs, and secure file transfer protocols (SFTP)
  • Technical Collaboration
  • Comfortable liaising with development and infrastructure teams to escalate and resolve complex issues
  • Able to interpret technical feedback and relay it clearly to clients or internal stakeholders
  • Contributes to root cause analysis and post-incident reviews
  • API & Integration Support
  • Understands API behaviour, payload structures, and common implementation pitfalls
  • Guides clients through integration steps and helps troubleshoot webhook or authentication issues
