Your role

Are you interested in joining the South African Global Markets team focusing on financing, capital management, collateralisation as well as stock borrow and lending activities?

We're looking for a Financing SBL Specialist to:

• Manage funding, stock borrow loan and inventory management with respect to balance sheet optimisation, corporate actions, and capital management
• To seek out opportunities in index and single stock futures or equity swaps, collateral upgrades, and term loans/deposits.
• Risk, compliance, and governance: to have a thorough understanding of governance and regulatory framework with respect to sales and trading conduct as well as market and operational risks
• Understand F2B operational risks and apply this knowledge to ensure the integrity of trade details in systems and maintain a robust control framework
• Set out frameworks for middle and back-office teams to perform lifecycle processing and trade allocations, and carry out the necessary control checks to ensure the proper reflection of risks and P&L
• Develop and implement process enhancement initiatives for balance sheet and collateral optimisation
• Take responsibility for processing, reviewing, and booking of transactions for stock borrow and lending activities
• Operational and administrative support to the sales and trading teams locally and offshore with ability to proactively identify and address control gaps
• Assist in the management of the relationship, documentation and onboarding process for new accounts, agreements, and lenders
• Assist in the execution of plans to expand the breadth and depth of the client base from a financing perspective
• Focus on leveraging internal projects and automation initiatives to serve internal and external stakeholders more efficiently

Your expertise

• A minimum of 3-5 years' experience within global markets / investment banking sales, structuring, or trading roles
• Relevant qualifications (Bachelors or Diploma)
• Knowledge and business contacts within the local industry, regulatory bodies and other market participants across financing and lending activities
• Experience with processing, reviewing, and booking of transactions for stock borrow and lending activities
• Experience with requirement gathering and analysis, design, development, test, implementation and be able to clearly articulate the output, conclusions, and weaknesses to business partners
• Intellectually curious person with strong attention to detail and desire to work in team-oriented and collaborative environment
• Appropriate registrations and trading licenses
• Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
• Analytical, creative problem-solving and organizational skills required with strong commercial instinct
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure
• Ability to perform data analytics to make key observations around market data/performance metrics/costs
• Ability to work closely with trading and IT to build data platforms to deliver and visualise analytics to empower trading decisions
• Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
