Financial Reporting and Tax Lead

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
Required:
Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
CA(SA) or equivalent
Completed Articles
Experience needed to deliver the role seamlessly:
CA(SA), CIMA or similar
BCom Degree or equivalent qualification.
3+ years of recent experience in a similar role.
Experience in drafting individual and consolidated group financial statements
Experience in compiling tax returns, including wear and tear allowances, deferred tax and other tax incentives
Proficiency in Ms Excel and data analysis and
Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Core Technical Delivery:
Financial Reporting
Prepare annual individual and consolidated financial statements in line with IFRS for Biovac, its holding company and subsidiaries, in order to meet internal, statutory and funder deadlines. Attend to all audit requirements relating to the financial statements, and ensure that the financial statements and notes are updated line with any changes to IFRS disclosure requirements
Prepare quarterly unaudited consolidated financial statements, including cash flow statement and other supporting schedules as required by funders and other stakeholders
Preparation of monthly reporting decks for the financial accounting streams, with input from other leads
Review monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations for Biovac and its subsidiaries
Preparation of reports and presentation decks for the quarterly board and board committee meetings
Manage key aspects of compliance and corporate governance, including VAT, PAYE, insurance, and other regulatory submissions.
Coach graduates and other team members on the preparation of management accounts and various reports for external stakeholders such as STATSSA and shareholders
Balance Sheet forecasting: participate in budgeting cycle by preparing the budgeted balance sheet
Audit assistance as required
Publish and maintain a departmental reporting calendar in order to manage reporting deadlines
SARS Compliance
Preparation of provisional and final tax returns for Biovac and its subsidiaries, including all supporting schedule and documentation. Document the rationale for tax treatment of special items such as allowances or incentives
Implement monthly processes to ensure that tax schedules are maintained throughout the year
Attend to SARS documentation and verification requests for all companies in the group
Review VAT201 workings for Biovac
Review EMP201 submissions
Liaise with tax consultants to compile memos to document rationale for tax treatment of special items
Review wear and tear register. Support implementation of wear and tear register in SAP.
Attend to any funder requirements regarding tax questionnaires and requests for documentation
Review balance sheet recons for all vat and tax provision accounts
Tracking of tax compliance status
Additional Duties
Support the financial accounting team as required
Prepare supporting documentation for annual insurance renewal
External audits
Funder due diligences
Internal control audits
SAP improvement projects participate in SAP projects and changes where required, lead SAP improvements for the finance department
Project accounting ensure that accounting meets requirements for capitalisation of project expenses to intangible assets. Attend to any requirements related to the new build project.
Monitor and report on funding covenants, attend to all Funder reporting requests and requirements.
