Job Summary FINANCIAL MANAGER - LUXURY HOSPITALITY PROPERTY, CAPE TOWNReports to: General ManagerOverviewThe Financial Manager will be responsible for the full financial function of the hotel, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of financial reporting. This role plays a strategic part in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and supporting executive management in financial decision-making to optimise the hotel's profitability.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & Reporting Oversee day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, cash flow, and payroll Post month end journals Prepare monthly management accounts and variance analyses Prepare audit ready Trial Balance Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial reports to stakeholders Prepare/Review weekly/monthly payment schedules Review daily / monthly finance reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness of all balance sheet accountsBudgeting & Forecasting Develop annual budgets in collaboration with department heads Prepare updated forecast throughout the financial year to track performance Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, and proactively address variancesCompliance & Controls Ensure compliance with statutory regulations on monthly and annual basis (e.g., SARS: VAT, EMPs, Provisional Tax submission) Maintain internal controls and financial policies in line with hospitality industry best practices and finance SOPs as provided by Head Office. Coordinate internal and external auditsCost Control & Revenue Optimization Analyse revenue and expenditure trends, recommending improvements where necessary Work closely with operational teams to manage costs in line with budget Monitor stock control processesTeam Leadership Lead and mentor the finance team Provide financial guidance to department managers Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvementQualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (essential) Completed SAICA/SAIPA/CIMA articles or equivalent (preferred) Minimum 5 years of financial management experience, leading a team, with at least 3 years in the hospitality industry Proficiency in financial software (e.g.: SAGE EVO, SAGE Intacct) Advanced skills in MS Excel Experience with hotel Property Management Systems (e.g.: Opera, Micros, or similar) is advantageous Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and hospitality industry regulationsKey Competencies High attention to detail and accuracy Strong leadership and team management skills Analytical mindset with sound commercial acumen and problem solving Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Integrity and ethical judgment
