Job Summary Key position is offered in a growing, entrepreneurial, innovative and proactive projects driven Company whose customers are in the commercial sector. This Company forms part of a leading multinational who acquired the majority of its shareholding and has a footprint around the globe. The SA Subsidiary is medium in size, employs close to 400 staff, most of whom are in the field and includes Projects Managers, Foremen and Blue Collared Workers. There is a newly created Subsidiary based in Cape Town whose business is to provide post-project maintenance as well as repairs & services to the Companys customers. The Financial Manager will be reporting into the CFO who is intricately involved in all areas of the business and acts in the capacity of a COO. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to be highly competent, able to work independently (where possible), be decisive and able to manage a small but effective Financial Department in all financial and management accounting areas of the business. Furthermore, there is a new, state of the art ERP computer package being implemented in January 2024 which is a total cloud based system and the "workflow" will be built into it. It will link with all the BI tools and will streamline the entire accounting system. In particular, there will be a separate Project Module built into the package so each contract can be managed during its Work-in-Progress stage until completion of each Contract and profit figure calculated accurately. As this Company was acquired by the European Holding Company approximately 2 years ago, there is a need to implement all the financial controls as required by them and ensure that the disciplines are in place for the controls to be adhered to. Key performance areas, inter alia, include: Effectively manage a Financial Department of 6 staff (Financial Accountant, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable) which includes planning, organising and co-ordinating the activities of the Dept to prepare and monitor financial reporting, cashflow management, fixed assets, inventory and project costing as well as the year-end audit. Drive Companys accounting & financial policies and procedures and in particular, ensure that all the controls are in place and adhered to by all the relevant employees. Ensure all deadlines are met due to the stringent requirements of the European Holding Company which is very demanding and exacting. Financial and Management Reporting in IFRS and GAAP for both the local Company and Holding Company as well as various other Stakeholders ensuring correct cut-offs are in the right month. This will include interpretation & analysis of financial information. Introduce new workflow and document flow and ensure compliance to all regulatory, legal and Group requirements. This will include adhering to Internal & External Auditors findings. Manage the migration between the old and new ERP System. Manage Project/Contract Costing and margin analysis as well as constantly reviewing and managing overhead structures. Co-ordinate stock counts and inventory management as well as liquidity management and control together with expenditure management and budgetary control measures across all Departments. In accordance with the above, there will be the preparation of the annual budget, as well as tight working capital management to ensure cashflow liquidity. Requirements: B. Comm, B. Compt or similar with not less than 10 years experience in a project type industry which may also include construction, as the candidate must understand project and contract costing as well as managing a Bill of Quantities and analysis thereof. Experience in driving a turnaround strategy environment due to the demanding requirements of the Holding Company in Germany. A firm & decisive personality, accurate and meticulous team player, strong leadership and communication skills across the workplace as well as problem solving ability. There must be knowledge of IFRS and GAAP and if the candidate understood IFRS 15, it would be a further recommendation.
