Job Description


Job Summary Financial management

  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions
  • Oversee financial department employees, including financial assistants and accountants
  • Contract outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Provide insightful information and expectations to managers as input in decision making
Statutory/ regulatory management
  • Submission of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial management and accounting
  • Ensure appropriate external audit arrangements are in place and manage the audit process
  • Assist in a successful conclusion of an annual audit with an unqualified opinion.
  • Compile the respective sections of the organizationxe2x80x99s integrated annual report and ensure submission thereof on time with a satisfactory quality and accuracy
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
Reporting
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports
  • Ensure Monthly Management Accounts to be finalized on time and provides useful strategic information to users
  • Ensure that Compliance to PFMA, National Treasury (NT) Regulations and the dtic reporting requirements is adhered to
  • Ad hoc reporting to the dtic and the NT
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of compliant AFS and NT packs
Desired experience

Minimum 8 years in progressively responsible financial management roles that includes the following:
  • Staff management
  • Preparation of monthly reporting to management
  • Preparation of annual financial statements
  • Managing both internal and external audit
  • Thorough understanding of GRAP and IFRS
  • Understanding of PFMA and NT regulations
  • Computer literacy xe2x80x93 Excel proficiency, knowledge of accounting systems / programmes
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Experience in the preparation and finalization of accounts in accordance with current statutory regulations
  • Experience in budget preparation and reporting
  • Highly numerate and able to analyze statistical information and interpret financial data to produce reports which can be understood by non-financial colleagues
  • IFRS 9 practical experience.
