Job Description


Job Overview:
A successful large strawberry farming operation situated in North West is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Manager to oversee the financial operations of their strawberry farms and the fruit export business. Experience in agricultural finance, budgeting, and cost management will be beneficial .
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cost control strategies.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve farm profitability.
  • Prepare financial reports for management, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Accounting & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, labor, and agricultural regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants.
Cost & Revenue Management
  • Monitor production costs, input expenses, and sales revenue.
  • Optimize pricing strategies for fresh and processed strawberry products.
  • Implement financial controls to minimize waste and inefficiencies.
Funding & Investment
  • Manage farm financing, including loans, grants, and subsidies.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities for farm expansion and new technology.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers, distributors, and financial institutions.
Risk Management
  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage for farm operations and assets.
  • Monitor market trends and currency fluctuations affecting farm profitability.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (CPA/CFA is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial management experience (agriculture sector preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of farm accounting software and financial reporting tools.
  • Understanding of agricultural tax laws, subsidies, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in cost control, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or farm-specific systems).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and seasonal business environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
