Job Description


Responsible for all aspects of financial management, that include analysing everyday financial activities and subsequently providing advice and guidance to top management on future financial plans; ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures; overseeing the flow of accurate and timeous financial data to company stake holders and ensuring the effective use of the organisations finances.

  • Overseeing the operations of the finance department, setting goals and objectives, and designing a framework for these to be met.
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate governance principles.
  • Aiding management in financial decision making.
  • Managing the preparation of the companys budgets.
  • Providing financial reports and interpreting financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
  • Ensuring the accurate completion of monthly financial reports; budgets and cashflow projections according to set deadlines.
  • Consolidating business activity reports, financial statements and cashflow forecasts.
  • Ensuring financial legal requirements are met including warranting that the company always remains tax compliant utilising specialized knowledge to resolve tax issues.
  • Ensuring that statutory requirements are met warranting the company remains compliant with the Companies Act of 2008 at all times.
  • Ensuring a clear and transparent paper trail is in place for all financial transactions
  • Establishing, maintaining and consistently improving a framework that enhances the Company's operational and strategic finance functions

  • Developing; implementing and maintaining financial reporting systems and financial policies and procedures for efficient and effective operations of the Finance Team, ensuring that all internal controls are in accordance with IFRS.
  • Analysing costs, pricing, sales results, and the companys actual financial performance compared to the business plans.
  • Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities by studying financial reports and business processes.
  • Liaising with auditors to ensure the maintenance of appropriate systems that monitor company finances.
  • Coordinating annual audits, providing external auditors with the necessary accounting and financial information to ensure a successful audit.
  • Providing functional leadership to the finance department team, supporting and guiding the accounting; accounts payable and accounts receivable functions with a focus of capacity development.
  • Approving journals at month end, including payroll journals
  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree with Honours in Accounting; Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • At least five (5) years proven experience as a Financial Manager within an FMCG environment managing a financial team with diverse accountabilities.
  • Accounting software package experience (SAGE will be an advantage)
  • Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market pattern.
  • Solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience in putting in place financial and non-financial controls, processes, and procedures to ensure business operates effectively and reduces risk appropriately
