Job Description

RPO Recruitment's client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant (Financial Engineer) to join their team in Rosebank, Johannesburg. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the client's financial accounts. This includes the use of mathematical techniques to solve financial problems. The successful candidate will need to test and issue new investment tools and methods of analysis. The candidate will also support market risk team on a daily basis with business analysis on valuations of new derivatives, market risk reporting requirements, involvement in regulatory and other projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and monitor budgets, forecast expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Conduct regular financial analysis and provide strategic recommendations based on findings
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial data is accurate and complete
• Coordinate and oversee the preparation of financial reports for management and external stakeholders
• Perform reconciliations of financial data and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise
• Support the auditing process by providing necessary documentation and answering inquiries from auditors
• Assist in developing and implementing financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Stay up-to-date on accounting regulations and industry trends to ensure compliance and best practicesose

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Proven experience working as a Financial Engineer or similar role
• Proficiency in quantitative analysis
• Understand pricing of financial derivative
• Team player
• Attention to detail
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Be willing to learn trading/ risk systems
• Experience on Murex or related trading or risk systems
