Position OverviewThe Financial Director will be responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, management, and governance of the company, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing financial performance, and driving business growth. This executive role combines strategic leadership with hands-on financial oversight, supporting business objectives in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry in South Africa.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and execute the companys financial strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making at the executive and board levels.
  • Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring sustainability and long-term profitability.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and local regulations.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and funding strategies to optimize financial performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to mitigate financial risk.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
  • Ensure compliance with South African pharmaceutical industry regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and financial institutions to ensure transparency and adherence to statutory requirements.
  • Implement financial governance frameworks and corporate policies.
Operational & Business Partnering
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, supply chain, sales, and marketing) to drive financial efficiencies.
  • Provide financial guidance on product pricing, cost optimization, and profitability analysis.
  • Lead financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Drive digital transformation in finance through automation and analytics.
Key Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Chartered Accountant CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent financial qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in financial / leadership roles in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, tax laws, and industry-specific compliance requirements in South Africa.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, risk management, and corporate governance.
  • Expertise in ERP systems, financial software, and digital finance tools.
