Job Summary Our client, a well-established player in the construction sector, is looking for a dynamic, hands-on Financial Controller to join their executive team. You'll be the strategic right-hand to the CFO and lead a robust finance department through sound financial governance and commercial insight.
? Key Responsibilities:
? Treasury & Forex Management

• Manage daily cash balances and optimize liquidity to support project execution
• Oversee foreign exchange transactions and hedge currency risks where necessary
• Ensure cost-effective financing and banking relationships

? Cashflow Management

• Maintain detailed short and long-term cash flow forecasts
• Identify potential shortfalls and proactively manage funding solutions
• Partner with operations to align cash planning with project rollouts

? Financial Controlling & Reporting

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts
• Drive analysis of project profitability, cost control, and operational efficiency
• Oversee balance sheet integrity and ensure reconciliations are completed timeously

? Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Manage full creditors and debtors cycles with tight controls and payment discipline
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Implement credit controls and reduce debtor days across the portfolio

? Asset Management

• Maintain fixed asset register and ensure proper capitalisation and depreciation
• Monitor usage and movement of assets across sites

? Audit & Compliance

• Lead the preparation for annual external audits and liaise with auditors
• Ensure full statutory compliance (IFRS, Tax, VAT, SARS submissions)
• Improve internal controls and governance frameworks

? Team Leadership

• Manage and mentor a capable finance team
• Create a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

? Requirements:

• CA(SA)
• Minimum 5-8 years of post-articles experience in a construction, engineering, or infrastructure environment
• Solid experience across treasury, forex, and project-based financial management
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive performance across multiple functions
• Proficient in financial systems and construction ERP platforms (e.g. BuildSmart, CCS, or similar)
