The Financial Services division is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mid-Level Financial Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of this project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and execute daily financial accounting activities, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement preparation
Oversee and process all incoming and outgoing payments, ensuring accuracy, security, and timely execution
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of budgets and 3-year plans (including variance analysis)
Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Support the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations
Collaborate with other departments in the broader group to perform intercompany reconciliations and seamless financial operations
Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation
Ensure financial records comply with company policies and accounting principles
JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
CA(SA)
3-5 years of experience in a financial role, preferably within the banking or financial services sector
Proven experience with accounting software (preferably SAP) and financial management systems
Solid understanding of financial principles and accounting standards (IFRS)
An understanding of banking regulations will be advantageous
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a small, dynamic team
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tool
Ability to work independently, with limited required direction and guidance, and provide appropriate direction to the business
Ability to liaise on all levels
