Job Description

A well-established Group of companies within the Fuel, Gas and Retail sectors, are looking to appoint a skilled and capable financial accountant to manage their accounting and finance function. This business is located on the West Coast of Cape Town.
The ideal candidate must have an accounting qualification and at least 4 yearsxe2x80x99 experience in an accounting and finance role, with strong financial accounting, reporting and internal control experience. Completed SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles will be a distinct advantage and knowledge of Xero, Sage and Excel will be a positive. Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered, especially from a similar or related industry such as Fuel, Gas, Manufacturing, Engineering, Retail, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assess, monitor and implement addition internal controls, especially around stock.
• Monthly accounting processing cashbooks to trial balance, general ledgers maintenance, monthly journals for entities within the group.
• Full debtors function from processing, journals, payment allocations, reconciliations.
• Full creditors function xe2x80x93 processing bills, reconciliations, preparation of weekly payments schedules.
• Reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts.
• Inter-company invoicing and loan schedule preparation.
• Ensure weekly deadlines are met and entries are accurately and timeously captured in the general ledger.
• Compilation of monthly management accounts.
• Preparation of weekly reports.
• Timely preparation, review and submissions of VAT, PAYE calculations, reconciliations and payments.
• Maintain fixed asset register.
• Prepare supporting schedules for audit and address audit queries.
• Any other ad-hoc tasks as required by Management.

• Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree, diploma or certificate in accounting or similar.
• 4+ years' accounting experience. Candidates qualified by experience must have a minimum of 3 years related experience.
• Completed SAIPA, SAICA or CIMA articles advantageous.
• Microsoft Excel xe2x80x93 intermediate to advanced level.
• Computer literate - good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
• Aptitude in working with figures is essential.

• R420,000 to R600,000 pa, depending on experience.
