Seeking a Financial Accountant - Power Generation Sector based in Johannesburg West

Are you passionate about powering the future with numbers that make a difference? Our client, a leader in the power generation industry, is seeking a sharp, technically proficient, and hands-on Financial Accountant to join their finance team based in Johannesburg West. As a Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and control within a technically complex and operationally demanding environment. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting outputs while partnering with various departments to ensure financial integrity across the business.
Duties:
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company standards
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial data
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes
- Oversee fixed asset register and ensure accurate asset accounting
- Prepare VAT and tax submissions and ensure statutory compliance
- Support external audit processes and manage audit deliverable
- Collaborate with operational teams to track and analyse financial performance
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist in system optimisation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- SAICA or SAIPA articles
- Minimum of 4 years' post-articles experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role
- Experience in the power generation, energy, engineering, or heavy industry sectors will be a strong advantage
