Job Description


Our client based in the North is looking for a Financial Accountant to assist the Financial Director

Responsibilities:
Strategic planning and implementation
Assist in formulating the company's future financial direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans and their financial implications on the business.
Drive policies and procedures down to the subsidiary level

Financial accounting and reporting:
Ensure that all statutory financial and reporting requirements of the organisation are met including Income Tax, payroll taxes and VAT.
Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and the internal and external auditors where necessary
Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
Develop and maintain financial accounting processes for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash
Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting
Assist the FD with overseeing the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
Assist the Finance Director and the Board with financial reporting as required at EXCO and Board meetings
Assist Auditors with annual audit

Financial operations management.
Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team.
Manage the accounting, investor relations, legal and tax activities.
Manage any third parties to which financial functions have been outsourced.
Oversee the group consolidation process
Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions
Implement strong internal controls

Risk management and governance

Risk Management:
Maintain a good working relationship with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
Report risk issues to the Finance Director
Ensure that record keeping meets required audit standards.
Communicate and share information on controls to educate internal customers.

Governance:
Identify and evaluate gaps in policy, processes and procedures relevant to the successful achievement of business goals.
Engage stakeholders in the improvement and or simplification of policies, processes and procedures.
Generate innovative solutions by drawing up a contingency plan within policy and legislative framework to deal with problems and opportunities.

Manage Human Resources function of group company
Perform BEE Audits
Perform Skills Development audits
Update HR Files
Prepare all statutory labour reports

Qualifications:
B Com Accounting Degree
