Job Title: Financial Accountant
Salary: R250k-300k per annum
Location: Durbanville, Western Cape
Reports To: Head of Finance

Summary
The Financial Accountant will ultimately be responsible for the accounting of the various ledgers. And legal entities, as allocated, for the company.
The position involves responsibility for the full accounting, transactional processing, and entity administration of the financial records for all the relevant companies.
The incumbent would be expected to ensure the various Group entitiesxe2x80x99 financial records are up.to date, accurate and compliant with relevant legislation & Group requirements and meets the standards and principles of international best practices. The role thus requires a direct interface with all departments.

Responsibilities

Cashbook

  • Manage all miscellaneous local and foreign transactions outside of the Accounts Payable process.
  • Report on long outstanding unpaid items to management for further action and resolution.
  • Ensure all cashbooks are reconciled monthly with Control Accounts and Bank Statements.
  • Processing of Petty Cash transactions and overseeing the petty cash custodian.
  • Monitor bank balances against facilities daily and ensure that any transfers required to balance available funds and/or provide liquidity for expected payments and /or sweeping of accounts is expedited timeously.
  • Ensure that all months end foreign balances are converted to local currency and forex gains and losses are properly accounted for in the GL.
Accounts Payable cycle
  • Manage onboarding, set-up, and maintenance of master data w.r.t new supplier accounts.
  • Review general ledger details and the necessary reports for purchase price variances and ensure material variances have been reported and resolved in a timeously manner.
  • Review all open purchase orders for long outstanding items and clearing thereof were applicable.
  • Review open GRNxe2x80x99s for unmatched accounts/invoices and stock returns and, where. Applicable ensure acceptance approvals are obtained to validate any credits.
  • Ensure Accounts Payable control accounts reconciles to sub-ledgers.
  • Review Cost of Sales Accounts for any non-inventory-based transactions and ensure such are valid and correctly posted.
  • Managing the intercompany balances and transactions and reporting and resolving of reconciling items.
  • Prepare audit schedules for internal and external audit purposes as required.
  • Ensure that all foreign currency gains and losses related to Trade Payable are recorded in the GL.
  • Ensure that all foreign trade payables are revalued in local currency at month end and that appropriate entries for forex gains and losses on trade payables are completely and accurately reflected in the GL.
Payroll
  • Prepare and process monthly Payroll.
  • Balance leave to the Employee Self Service platforms
  • Manage Master data including loading of new/resignation or changes after HR approval.
  • Posting of Salaries journal
  • Reconciling Salaries control account to supporting schedules.
TAX & statutory tasks
  • Submission of PAYE as per the payroll on E-filing and send it for payment.
  • Reconcile PAYE monthly and bi-annually.
  • Generate the VAT reports and resolve any variances.
  • Reconcile VAT monthly.
  • Submission of VAT on E-filing and adhere to SARS reviews and audits within 72hours.
  • Calculation of WCA and facilitate submission.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
  • Accuracy and completeness of all processing on payment requests as per supplier
  • terms.
  • Accuracy of all invoices capturing for cashbook nominal payments.
  • Accuracy, speed, and efficiency on reconciling Accounts Payable.
  • Accuracy, speed, and efficiency on assistance with monthly reporting.
  • Accuracy and efficiency on assistance with weekly cashflow forecast.
  • Adherence to Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPxe2x80x99s).
  • Adherence to achieving all monthly reporting deadlines.

  • Financial Accounting degree or similar
