Job Description

Our client in the steel and engineering industry, is looking for a Financial Accountant, based in Jacobs, Durban to join their team.

The purpose of the role is to support the Finance Manager and supervise the team effectively for all Department deliverables to be achieved and sustained.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Previous Experience in this field

Matric and a formal Qualification in Finance/Accounting

Excellent Computer Literacy skills

Knowledge of SAGE system

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

CASH MANAGEMENT

Bank daily cash takings

Timeous preparation of all short banking journal entries xe2x80x93 FM to validate and post.

Ensure that all weekly and monthly payments have been authorized and released in time and if payments have gone off successfully

Reconciliation of DBN and PMB Petty Cash Recon

Capturing of all Petty Cash recons for both branches.

CASH BOOK

Review of the Cashbook in Sage to verify that the bank balance as per SAGE agrees to the bank balance as per statement. Any differences need to be communicated to the incumbents responsible for Receipts and payments (namely credit controller and Accounts Payable Controller).

Daily follow ups will be the incumbent's responsibility.

Any items that have still not be rectified in a week must be escalated to the FM.

Preparation of the Month End Bank Recons (namely the Working Capital, Cheque, Salary, Call Account and CFC accounts)

Management of all COD Accounts xe2x80x93 DBN and PMB xe2x80x93 Query

Forward all COD Invoice Schedule to Branches for the previous day

Cross check COD Schedule with Invoice list xe2x80x93 query Discrepancies

Preparation of all COD Journal entries and follow up on outstanding COD customers

Ensure that all Credit Notes processed in the month they arose

Daily Receipting of the COD Account into Sage system

RECONCILIATIONS

Preparation of all Balance sheet recons

These are Deposits to all respective Accounts

Prepare the Diesel Usage Recon for DBN and PMB
