Minimum Requirements
Minimum qualification: 3-year Accounting Diploma or Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a full-function accounting role.
Strong working knowledge of Sage Evolution 200 and Pastel Payroll.
Proven experience in both hands-on processing and managing an accounting team.
Solid understanding of VAT, Tax, and statutory compliance.
Experience in imports, forex transactions, and intercompany accounts.
Exposure to HR administration will be advantageous.
Excellent computer literacy, especially in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to Springs weekly.
Areas of Responsibility
Smaller Entity
Perform full-function accounting, including processing for:
Debtors: invoicing, receipts, reconciliations, and collections.
Creditors: invoice capturing, supplier reconciliations, and payments.
Bank accounts: processing, reconciliations, and cash flow tracking.
Fixed assets: additions, disposals, and depreciation.
Intercompany accounts: reconciliations and journals.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and Provisional Tax Estimates.
Perform monthly factory payroll and all statutory submissions (UIF, WCA).
Manage and administer employee benefits (Discovery Medical Aid, Sanlam & Old Mutual Provident Fund).
Larger Entity
Oversee and manage the accounting function and team performance.
Perform partial processing where required, ensuring accuracy and deadlines are met.
Review reconciliations, journals, and reports prepared by accounting staff.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
Prepare management reports and assist with audits.
Provide guidance and training to accounting team members to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Imports & Foreign Transactions
Process Forex payments for international suppliers.
Manage shipping arrangements and Customs / SARS APN applications.
Maintain accurate records of foreign supplier transactions.
Prepare documentation for bank audits and ensure compliance.
Human Resources
Support general HR administration, including maintaining employee records, onboarding and offboarding, and leave management.
Liaise with benefit providers regarding employee updates and compliance.
Assist with HR-related reporting and employee communication.
Team Management and Training
Supervise a team of three finance staff.
Provide ongoing training and mentorship to develop skills and maintain accuracy.
Review work quality, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
