Job overview:
My client, a leading Accounting Firm, is looking for a Financial Accountant to join their team in Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of annual financial statements (from source documents or trial balances)
- Preparation of management accounts for a portfolio of clients
- Preparation of accounting records from client-provided documentation
- Completion and submission of company and trust income tax returns and VAT returns
- Engage with clients professionally on deliverables and planning matters
- Monitor budges and timelines for each engagement
- BCom Accounting degree or suitable equivalent (compulsory)
- At least 5 years' post-article experience (SAICA or SAIPA)
- Software experience: Caseware Working Papers, Pastel, Sage, Xero, GreatSoft, MS Office Suite
- Experience in a small to medium sized accounting firm
- Strong working knowledge of accounting and tax legislation and its applications
- Confident liaising with clients on financial and tax related matters
- Ability to engage in tax planning to support efficient structuring and compliance
- Familiarity with preparing and submitting annual tax and VAT returns
- Strong written and verbal communications skills in English
- High level of literacy and attention to detail
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure
- Self-manged and able to take initiative when needed
- Confident and professional in client interactions
- Team player who collaborates effectively across departments
