Job Description


Purpose of Position

The Finance and Risk Manager, will work closely with the Director: Finance & Procurement to manage the VSA organisation's planning, policies, processes, reporting, and advice on finance, risk, and administration (including tax, treasury, insurance, and audit), per local requirements and strategy, and to support the organisation in realising its short- and long-term business objectives.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Contribute to VSAxe2x80x99s strategy, and communicate with various management levels to ensure clarity and acceptance, all in relation to the assigned departments and geared towards maximising shareholders' value.
Business Planning & Control:
  • Co-ordinate the VSA annual planning process and, after approval, ensure implementation, monitor and advise on adjustments, to support the line management in realising business objectives.
Finance & Control Plan & Budget:
  • Develop and after approval implement and realise the VSA Finance plan and budget, as part of the global Finance plan and budget.
Finance & Control policies:
  • Contribute to developing global Finance policies, procedures and systems and ensure development and implementation at the local level, in line with local and global requirements and best practices.
Accounting:
  • Ensure effective implementation of procedures and financial administration, based on global guidelines and South-African rules, to provide a timely, correct, complete, efficient and useful administration and correct monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including profit and loss and balance sheet.
  • Work closely with the Director: Finance & Procurement in representing the company and answering questions from the authorities (fiscal, auditors) to ensure that the statements give a true and fair view of the companyxe2x80x99s financial position.
Reporting & Analysis:
  • Contribute to the development of KPIs. Plan and prepare periodic reports (financial and non-financial indicators). Perform business analyses and prepare advice for management planning and control. Prepare financial reports for the annual report of Vopak.
Project Control:
  • Ensure proper project control for all projects within the South Africa organisation.
Treasury:
  • Manage the balance sheet and cash flows locally. In cooperation with the Director Finance & Procurement, manage local funding, exposures and bank relations.
Tax:
  • Ensure know-how on local tax requirements and relations with local tax authorities and advisors. Contribute to the process for the local tax declaration (including income tax, VAT and payroll taxes) and identify tax reduction opportunities to ensure compliance and optimisation.
  • Cooperate with Global Tax.
Risk Management & Insurances:
  • In cooperation with the global staff, ensure a local risk management policy and execution.
  • Arrange local risk finance solutions.
  • Custodian of the Global Vopak Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) standard, process, assurance and reporting to the Global office, Vopak Board and Vopak South Africa management committees.
Audit/Governance:
  • Prepare, manage, execute, report and document audits
  • During audit preparation, perform risk assessments from a various of inputs enabling the appropriate risk approach
  • Demonstrate critical thinking by applying process analysis and problem-solving techniques during all steps of the audit, but in particular during execution
  • Apply the local internal audit standards combined with a thorough understanding of governance, risk, and control appropriate to the organisation
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the business environment, industry practices, and specific organisational factors by e.g. understanding Vopak standards and guidelines, keeping abreast of internal and professional communications, following external training and seminars, building and maintaining an internal and external network.
  • Ensuring that the organisation fulfils global, legislative and governmental obligations of compliance.
BBBEE:
  • Contribute to the BBBEE Strategy implementation and oversight in line with the strategic ambition.
Management:
  • Ensure adequate resources and an effective organisational structure, to ensure that the administrative, accounting and EDP functions are well-motivated and equipped for current and future challenges.
  • Develop and manage the Finance team of enthusiastic and motivated professionals.
Qualifications & Experience Required

Tertiary Qualification
  • BComm (Accounting) + Articles
  • BComm Honours (Accounting) will be advantageous
Experience
  • 5 - 8 years of practical experience
  • JDE/ Oracle Cloud exposure (or similar
  • ERP system)
  • Knowledge of local taxation, including
  • VAT and employeesxe2x80x99 tax
  • Medium to high Excel skills
