Job Description


Established Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) requires a Financial Manager to manage organizational budgeting, cash flow, payments, financial accounting, and financial reporting in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and the highest accounting standards and facilitate unqualified financial audits.

Purpose:
Responsible to ensure the provision of a high quality of high level financial management services, including development and maintenance of relevant financial records; development of financial policies and procedures within organizational guidelines; facilitating financial audits to achieve unqualified audit reports; budget development and tracking; cash and bank account management; review of grantee financial reports; securing of finance and tax-related registrations and approvals; financial reporting (including the submission of all statutory financial reports); and financial risk management.

Requirements:

  • Relevant accounting degree and/or a min of 5 years relevant experience in a financial management role
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and spreadsheets;
  • High level ACCPAC and/or Pastel or other mainstream accounting package user, including demonstrated ability to produce graphic reports of high-level financial indicators;
  • Competency in French and/or Portuguese is an added advantage
Duties include:
  • Set up and manage the finances and financial systems and procedures of the Foundation.
  • Annual and project-specific budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day income and expenditure in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Review grantee financial reports.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial management reports.
  • Prepare annual financial statements.
  • Submit all statutory financial reports including tax returns and financial reports required because of the Foundation's non-profit organization registration and public benefit organization certification.
  • Ensure that the Foundation's blanket approval for international payments is secured from the South African Reserve Bank annually.
  • Present financial reports to meetings of the board of trustees as and when required.
  • Cooperate with internal auditors to implement recommendations for improvement of financial management systems.
  • Manage finance personnel, including performance management.
  • Liaise with relevant service providers (i.e. payroll management agents, bankers, accounting package agents, etc.), tax advisors, legal advisors, insurers, and auditors.
  • Undertake any other related tasks that may be assigned by the head of operations or chief executive officer, within the scope of financial management.
