BASED DURBAN







Works from pack sheet, collects packaging and labelling, ensures accuracy, before manually filling/packing large volume/quantity products per spec, conducting quality controls. Works as part of a team to drive operational efficiency, assisting with sealing, and other related duties.





KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS







TECHNICAL DUTIES:



Follow the daily work instructions as provided each morning by the Supervisor. Work from Packaging Sheet, assess packaging requirements - volume, packaging, etc. Collect packaging and labels from the packaging storage (upstairs). Complete the labelling, per packaging sheet instructions. Manual filling, from the tank, for large volume (25kg), weigh product and ensure it conforms with the volume requirement, placing into the stipulated packaging (bag), adjusting as necessary to ensure accuracy. Continuous monitoring of product, observing consistency, etc., noting any deviation. Stop and report. Pick up filled bag and move to the sealing machine. Place the bag in the sealing machine, removing all air, then operate the sealing machine to close the bag. Pick up the sealed bag and place on the pallet, stacking safely and securely. For smaller pack sizes (1kg or 5kg), decant from tank into half IBC and move via trolley jack to designated area. For raw material repacks, decant from existing packaging, verify expiry, take a sample, and send to lab, once approved, get batch stickers and complete repack into designated packaging. Manually scoop product, placing into the stipulated packaging (bucket), inserting scoop, and then weigh to conform with requirements, adjusting as necessary to ensure accuracy. Lift and place buckets onto the pallet. Complete batch run (typically 20 - 25kg bags or 100 - 5 kg bags per blend, and 4 blends per day per blender). Ensure that IBC is properly cleaned and free from contamination between blends. Work as a team, packing, assisting blender, etc. to ensure efficiency. Continuous monitoring of the area for safety and ensuring housekeeping to minimise safety hazards. Ensure that all information is updated accurately on the Packaging Sheet, before handing over to the Supervisor.
Responsible for monitoring the machinery/equipment and where issues are picked up, engage with the workshop to investigate.


ADMINISTRATION:



Ensure accurate recordkeeping and documentation. Submit Completed and Signed Packaging Sheets, in the agreed format, on time.
Ensure compliance with standard operating policies and procedures (including quality controls).



HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGEMENT:



Ensure full compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation and company policy & procedures. Wear required PPE in designated areas. Operate all machinery in full accordance with instructions and safety precautions.
Immediately report any non-compliance via the Health & Safety Officers.


MINIMUM QUALIFYING CRITERIA





Grade 12 / Matric. Some working experience preferred. On-the-job training (min 3 months to be independent). External training on specific handling & storage of certain raw materials.
Knowledge: Safety requirements in dealing with chemicals.
