Position Purpose

:

The Field Service Technician plays a critical part in the Aftersales business by ensuring that customer field service requests are executed accurately and timeously. This position performs various assignments in service maintenance, installation, new machine start-ups & repairs of Astec Range of equipment at customers' locations & Factory.

Duties and Responsibilities

:

Extensive Travel to local / abroad customer site to provide training / commissioning / installation / maintenance and/or repairs of all Astec range of equipment in the field / Factory as scheduled or directed. Communicate with customers regarding equipment performance issues, time required to repair, etc. Performs diagnostic evaluations and analysis on Astec equipment. Delivers and prepares machine documentation or field reports to aid in identifying root cause of service issues and avoid future warranty claims. Follow up with customers and internal personnel as needed to resolve service issues to completion. Proficient in reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, drawings, schematics for electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues. Provide occasional technical support remotely. Set up and conduct tests under operational conditions in order to correct or improve performance and other factors. Assisting with Factory Repairs assembly when required. Monitoring and reporting on competitor products in the field. Monitoring and reporting on prospects for future sales. Providing daily feedback to the service supervisor / service administrator and or Client. Preparing for scheduled service jobs with customer. Completing inspection sheets for service utility vehicle and tools to ensure that it is safe and up to date. Completing formal reports pertaining to failures or assessments conducted on Astec Equipment. Conducting all duties with a Safety centric approach for own safety as well as any participating team members. Ensuring Compliance to QMS standards.

Qualifications:

Qualified Red Seal Artisan- Millwright. Strong demonstrated knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and instrumentation systems Maintenance & trouble shootings methods. The person must be in possession of a valid Code B (or higher) driver's license.

Experience:

At least 8 years' experience in Heavy Construction / Mining equipment. At least 8 years' experience with, Electrical, Hydraulics and Instrumentation repair experience. Experience Heavy engineering / Mining equipment preferred. Troubleshooting and repair of Electrical, hydraulic and mechanical equipment required. Experience in Astec product range or a similar range will be advantages.

Character:

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to obtain a medical COF / competency training certification in accordance with Astec and client requirements. Manual dexterity to perform efficiently, accurately, and productively to keep up with service schedule requirements and workload. Willing to travel and work overtime. Advanced mechanical / Electrical aptitude. Capacity to learn quickly, detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, and positive. Flexible and adaptable in coping with pressures, deadlines, and rapidly changing situations. Ability to analyze situation for safety factors and perform repair or maintenance work or operate service vehicle in a safe manner at all times. Trustworthy and dependable as the role requires independent work.

Computer Proficiency

:

Basic computer skills on Microsoft Office.

Other:

Ability to work independently and un-supervised on ad-hoc scheduled jobs as well as projects.
