Duties and responsibilities


  • Install, maintain, disinfection/cleaning and evaluate of Medical equipment, RO Systems and instrumentation.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance and electrical safety testing of equipment according to B.Braun AG Service documentation (CoE).
  • Complete additional tasks and assignments within the timeframe set out by management.
  • Diagnosis of equipment malfunctions and perform corrective action.
  • Maintain documentation on new equipment, commissioning, PD inspections and equipment repairs and failures.
  • Provide technical assistance to Customers regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Review outcome of preventative maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
  • Arrange service activities according to the schedule matrix.
  • Attend to customer call outs 24/7.
  • Manage and arrange back-up equipment and stock when arrived.
  • From time to time Management will require you to perform tasks outside of the abovementioned .
  • Monthly reports per Service Engineer pertaining to devices Repair, PM Services, Commission and installations on site.

Professional competencies


  • ND / B-Tech / BSc Electrical / Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or/and relevant years of experience (= > 5 years).
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology and applied to use of biomedical equipment.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical equipment.
  • Registration with CEASA/ECSA will be preferred.
  • A valid driver's license, passport and a reliable vehicle.
  • Computer literate, Strong Excel and Word skills.
  • Able to travel extensively into other provinces and Countries outside SA borders.

  • Ability to push/pull equipment and to kneel, stand, bend and reach during equipment repair.
  • Skill in manual dexterity, hand-to-eye coordination and color vision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Presentable, neat, reliable & trustworthy team member.
  • Analytical and logical thinking ability.
  • Accountability for his/her actions when dealing with equipment used on patients.
