The Field Service Supervisor at BMG South Africa is responsible for overseeing the field service operations related to low-pressure applications, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Low Pressure Supervisor leads a team of technicians and specialists to provide installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting services to BMG's customers in various industries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication
Represent the company in all forms of communication, maintaining good working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders, external suppliers, and clients.
Respond to and follow up on all enquiries by email, telephone and personal visits as required.
Responsibility for building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrate a strong customer service focus and quality communication and output in all interactions with key stakeholders and external contacts
Team Leadership
Supervise and coordinate the activities of the low-pressure field service team, including technicians and specialists.
Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Service Delivery
Oversee the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of lubrication, hydraulic and pneumatic systems at customer sites.
Ensure that services are performed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with BMG's quality standards and procedures.
Customer Engagement
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by understanding their needs, addressing their concerns, and delivering timely and effective solutions. Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to identify opportunities for service expansion and enhancement.
Technical Expertise
Serve as a subject matter expert on lubrication, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, components, and applications.
Provide technical guidance, advice, and training to field service technicians to improve their knowledge and skills.
Safety and Compliance
Enforce safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure the health and well-being of field service personnel and customers.
Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations as needed
Inventory Management
Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment needed for field service operations. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of resources and materials.
Quality Assurance
Monitor the quality of field service work performed by the team to ensure compliance with BMG's quality standards and customer requirements.
Implement corrective actions and process improvements as needed to enhance service quality and efficiency.
Documentation and reporting
Maintain accurate records of field service activities, including service reports, work orders, and customer communications.
Prepare regular reports and updates for management on service performance, trends, and issues.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
National Certificate NQF4 level
National Trade Certificate and experience in related field.
Proven experience (3-5years) in field service operations, preferably in the maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Strong technical knowledge of lubrication, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, components, and applications.
Leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions to technical challenges.
Familiarity with safety regulations, standards, and best practices in field service operations.
Proficiency in using computer software and mobile applications for service documentation and reporting.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
