Bring your fresh perspective, develop your strengths, break out your mold, and find a career that fits your dreams with us.Click on the link below to learn what our employees have to say about Evonik:RESPONSIBILITIESOperates the Main Plant, SMR Plant and Tank Farm.Able to work unsupervised to ensure tasks are completedControls the field operations of plants according to the operating manual requirements.Transfer and dilution/adjustment of product between stock tanks to prepare different product grades for customers.Records plant operating conditions and analyses on log sheets; maintains the records of daily, weekly and monthly Tank Farm figures, as well as complete shift log book entriesCarry out plant sampling and inspection of productsAnalyze plant samples (as per schedule) min of once a shift and sampling of product in the stock tanks.Adjusts basic settings / parameters to meet plant performance requirements.Regularly checks the plant and Tank Farm for abnormal operating conditions and faulty equipment.Operate complex plant machinery and equipment as required.Preparations of the plant for work clearance permits and monitoring of contractors working on the plant. This includes filling out the Hazardous Energy Isolation Procedure Forms as well as isolations and locking out in the field and MCC.Inspection of road tanker/ISO-Containers for damage or contamination; preparation and filling / offloading of road tanker/ISO-Container according to operating procedures, work instructions and safety regulations.Maintains the housekeeping and safety of the whole field section of the plant, including SMR.Makes up batches of chemicals (e.g. nitric acid solution, caustic soda solution, stabilizer solution, boiler water chemicals).Compliance with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Responsible Care standards and proceduresManages and applies safe systems of work with no constant supervisionClean plant strainers and filters min of once a shift.Drives the forklift as and when required to complete daily tasks ASAPOperate pneumatic hoist as and when required to complete daily tasks ASAP (esp. making batches).Any other reasonable tasks as and when required.Perform maintenance tasks as and when required to ensure your work is completed ASAP with no delays.Be available at all times when on standby in the event you need to be called out and perform standby duties on both sections of the plant when required.Be able to read technical documents for equipment on the plantBe able to read and understand P&ID drawings for the plant.REQUIREMENTSEducation:Matric with National N6 Certificate in Chemical Engineering and minimum 5 years working experience in petrochemical/chemical plant operation orNational Diploma in Chemical Engineering, and minimum 5 years working experience in petrochemical/chemical plant operation, orBTech Chemical Engineering, and minimum 3 years working experience in petrochemical/chemical plant operation.Preferable have 1 year experience as a panel operatorVery good English communication skills (verbal, listening and written communication)Computer skills (MS Office)Own transport and a valid drivers licenseAble to do calculations for plant dilutions and product adjustmentsInput plant data paraments on excel spreadsheets and analyse the dataAble to understand plant equipment selection and operating conditions based on calculations for the equipmentAble to differentiate between the different valves on the plant and if the application is correct. This is important when valves are replaced.Take accountability for the plant and ensure housekeeping is done as and when required.Participate in monthly SAM TrainingConduct monthly job safety analysis for tasks around the plant.Participate in mandatory Futurezone training as and when requiredAble to calculate product tonnage based on volume and densityAble to read and record flowmeter readings around the plantAble to read and understand pump curves and get the desired information from these.Motivation, confidence and development orientationProactive team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitudeReliability and accountability with the execution of tasksCarries out plant isolation tasks in preparation for repair and maintenance work prior to issue of work clearance permit. Monitors plant maintenance crew/contractors work in the Tank Farm.
