Field Guide & Maintenance Manager - Private Game Reserve - Western Cape
Our client, a prestigious private game reserve in the Western Cape, is seeking a hands-on and versatile Field Guide & Maintenance Manager. This live-in position offers a competitive salary package of R14,000 - R20,000 per month depending on experience, and provides the opportunity to live on the reserve while working closely with the General Manager. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical maintenance skills with excellent guest interaction and guiding abilities, ensuring a seamless balance between operations and guest experience.
Description
This exciting hybrid role is perfect for a candidate who enjoys variety. The successful applicant will not only guide guests on memorable safari experiences but will also take responsibility for the general upkeep and maintenance of the reserve's facilities, vehicles, and guest units. In addition, you will be expected to step into a leadership role when the General Manager is away, ensuring smooth operations and high service standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct guided safari drives and provide guests with a professional and engaging wilderness experience.
• Perform day-to-day maintenance across the property, including basic repairs and upkeep of guest units.
• Oversee and maintain vehicles, ensuring they are safe and reliable.
• Support the General Manager and step into management responsibilities when required.
• Ensure guests receive excellent service and personalised attention throughout their stay.
• Assist with staff coordination and operational duties on the reserve.

Package:

• Salary negotiable R14,000 - R20,000 per month depending on experience.
• Live-in position on the reserve.
• Meals and accommodation included.

Minimum Requirements

• Strong background in maintenance (vehicles, general property upkeep, units).
• Previous experience as a field guide on a reserve.
• FGASA Level 1 (or higher) qualification advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence and PDP essential.
• Strong leadership ability and capable of standing in for management.
• Professional, guest-focused, and able to adapt in a dynamic environment.
