Job Description
Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Field Diesel Mechanic to join their civil construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostic of construction vehicles and equipment, including trucks and yellow plant, directly on site. This role includes attending to emergency breakdowns and ensuring minimal downtime of critical equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Trade Tested)
- Minimum 2 years' experience working on trucks and yellow plant machinery (TLBs, excavators, rollers, etc.)
- Proven ability to work independently in a field environment
- Valid driver's license (Code 10 or higher preferred)
- Reliable transport
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills
- Good communication and reporting ability
- Experience in the civil construction sector
- Basic welding/fabrication skills
- Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs on all site based vehicles and plant
- Attend breakdowns promptly to minimise project delays
- Maintain accurate records of services and repairs completed
- Provide feedback to management regarding equipment condition and future repair needs
R 25 000 - R 35 000 basic, depending on experience
