Introduction:

A vacancy exists for a

Fence Technician

at a prestigious estate in

Midstream

. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring the integrity of electric fences across various designated areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct daily inspections of both internal and external fences to ensure there are no obstructions (e.g., vegetation interference), and take necessary readings. Perform maintenance on all electric fences, energizers, and associated components. This includes the replacement of damaged wires, resistors, and bobbins. Test chargers, control panels, and deep cycle batteries regularly. Identify and address weak points in the fence structure. Ensure proper fence zoning and accuracy of zoning for both internal and external fences. Resolve all activations promptly. Report any suspicious activities or damage to the electric fence and related equipment to the relevant Security Manager. Submit standard daily reports to the relevant Security Managers. Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Grade 12 (Matric)

or equivalent qualification. Proven knowledge and hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electric fences. Proficient understanding of electric fence energizers, electric circuits, fence zoning, chargers, control panels, fault finding, and activation protocols. In-depth product knowledge related to electric fencing systems. An

SIRA

certification (minimum Grade C) is mandatory. An appropriate qualification issued by a registered institution will be advantageous. Comprehensive understanding of Standard Security Operational Procedures (SOPs). Ability to work independently with strong initiative, integrity, and professionalism. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a client-oriented approach. A clean disciplinary record and no criminal record. A valid

South African Driver's Licence

(Minimum Code EB) is required. Additional qualifications will be beneficial. Basic computer literacy is an advantage.
