Job Description

Job Summary Responsibilities:
Inventory Control

• Monitor and manage feed stock levels to ensure adequate supply for the feed mill
• Input data as needed into the system
• Implement inventory control system to maintain accurate stock levels and determine weekly needs for various pens

Quality Control

• Ensure that all feed storage facilities meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
• Conduct inspections and quality control on a daily basis to maintain feed integrity and safety
• Ensure quality control of raw materials

Operational Efficiency

• Develop and implement effective storage and handling procedures to minimize waste and optimize space utilization
• Streamline logistics and distribution processes to ensure timely availability of feed to the pigs
• Monitor operational performance metrics and implement improvements as needed
• Maintain and repair all equipment and infrastructure regarding the feed mill, with specific reference to electrical and welding work

Team Leadership

• Supervise and train the feed mill and staff
• Promote a culture of safety, teamwork and continuous improvement among team members.
• Shift scheduling and assignment of tasks to ensure effective feed storage facilities.

Administration

• Handling administration regarding feed production

Inherent requirements of the role:

• Excellent time management
• Good communication skills (oral, written and technical) - Afrikaans and English
• Problem solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to navigate and carry out repairs and maintenance on the farm
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to carry out electrical and electronic repairs and maintenance
• Ability to work at heights, if the candidate has attended relevant training in this subject it will be advantageous.
• Willingness to work weekend shifts

Qualifications:

• Matric
• A qualification in grain grading would be advantageous
• Computer skills with specific reference to Microsoft and software to monitor stock levels
• Technical qualification with reference to electricity would be advantageous
• Qualification in stock control or feed production would be advantageous

Experience:
The successful candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position.
