Farming Field Manager - BothavilleFull job descriptionAn exciting opportunity is available for a motivated individual in our client's Farming division in the Western Free State region (Wesselsbron / Bothaville / Welkom). The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of a tertiary qualification, either a BSC in Agriculture or a BComm in Agricultural Economics, coupled with a demonstrated track record of at least 5 years managing farms, with practical expertise in farm row crops.Role Overview: In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, managing, and reporting on designated farming units.Key Responsibilities:Planning:Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Contractors to develop comprehensive crop production plans for maize, soybeans, sunflower, wheat, and cotton.Provide chemical and fertilizer recommendations in consultation with chemical representatives and agronomists.Develop a budget for each unit, covering various scenarios, in coordination with the Operations Manager.Evaluate input prices and farming practices to determine optimal production plans.Execution:Implement production plans within the allocated budget, working closely with the Operations Manager and Farming Contractors.Ensure timely and accurate land preparations.Oversee planting and input application according to the production plan.Coordinate input deliveries and contracting services.Manage the delivery of harvested crops to designated silos or end-point destinations.Managing:Support and coordinate Farming Contractors in their day-to-day activities and decision-making.Conduct regular visits to designated farming units to address challenges and monitor progress.Manage on-farm stock, storage, and regular stocktaking.Reporting:Provide frequent updates and reports on crop progress and projected production outcomes for designated farming units.Report on factors influencing crops, potential damage, and solutions.Monitor and report on the planned budget and factors affecting it.Track on-farm and storage facility stock quantities.Report daily rainfall from farms.Complete and update pre-harvest crop estimates.Report deliveries and reconcile with Support from Stellenbosch.Core Competencies:Customer focus: Prioritize both internal and external stakeholders.Communication: Listen actively and contribute ideas.Teamwork: Collaborate and seek input from others.Initiative: Proactively drive processes and tasks.Innovation: Generate creative ideas and solutions.Ownership & Accountability: Take responsibility for decisions and actions.Management: Provide constructive and timely feedback.Detail orientation: Organized and meticulous attention to detail.Desirable Skills:Experience with ERP systems.General:Operational in Western Free State xe2x80x93 Wesselsbron / Bothaville / Welkom.Reports to Senior Farming Field Manager.Salary includes market-related basic salary, Travel and Car Allowance, Provident Fund, and Medical Aid benefits.Reliable vehicle, preferably a utility (4x4 / bakkie), required.Relocation expenses covered as required.
