About the Role
As an External Sales Specialist, you will manage and grow a defined customer base across the Western Cape and outlying areas. Your focus will be on driving account penetration, delivering consultative solutions, and ensuring measurable sales growth across industries.
This role requires a strong technical sales background, solid process knowledge, and the ability to build long-term customer partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow existing customer accounts while identifying new opportunities
Develop consultative proposals and promote the full range of automation and instrumentation products and services
Conduct a minimum of 12 client visits per week across your territory
Collaborate with internal sales, service, projects, and marketing teams to deliver exceptional value
Track opportunities, sales activities, and forecasts using Salesforce CRM
Develop annual territory plans and rolling forecasts to meet sales budgets and targets
Increase account penetration and cross-selling by offering Endress+Hauser's full portfolio
Provide meaningful market, customer, and competitor insights
Participate in industry events, customer demos, and product shows
Travel extensively across Western Cape, including regions such as Overberg, Southern Cape, Ceres/Tulbagh/Wolseley, and key customer hubs
Requirements
Ideal Candidate Profile
Matric + National Diploma / N6 and Trade Test in Instrumentation & Automation
5-10 years' experience in technical sales within the industrial automation/instrumentation space
Strong process automation background with proven consultative sales skills
Knowledge of Level, Flow, Pressure, Temperature, Analytical, and Systems products, as well as services and digital platforms
Valid driver's licence (C1/old code 10 + PDP required) and willingness to travel extensively
CRM proficiency (Salesforce essential; SAP experience advantageous)
Resides in or near Cape Town and surrounding operational areas
Confident, self-driven, resilient, and results-oriented
Excellent communicator with strong planning, presentation, and customer engagement skills
Active presence on digital platforms (e.g., LinkedIn) to build brand and customer relationships?
